ADCIS has developed an app to assess visual acuity in accordance the protocol for an American client specializing in the field of optometry.

This smartphone app has the following features:

  • Guides the user during the acuity testing using voice messages
  • Displays predefined patterns on the screen for reading from a distance of 3 meters
  • Records the person’s voice describing what they see on the screen and verifies that his choice corresponds to what is displayed
  • Calculates the reading results on all displayed patterns to deduce visual acuity
  • The phone is placed at a distance of 3 meters, validated by the app, and the patterns are automatically displayed at the proper size on the phone for the visual acuity test
  • The results are securely transferred and stored in a personalized account on a remote server (in accordance with general data protection regulations)

ADCIS’ Skills Implemented

  • Development for both Android and iOS smartphones
  • Display management based on screen resolution (actual pattern size adapted to the visual acuity test)
  • Voice recognition (cloud based Microsoft Azure service)
  • Interfacing with secure remote server and medical data host
  • Available in the App Store for the iPhone version
